How To Survive Incredible Ind!a part !

India, land of diverse culture and religion, dazzles me in so many ways. This is my second trip to India and I don't want to stop until i explore every inch out of it. In this entry, I want to share with you what u shall prepare before you planning to go to India.

For those holding Malaysian Passport

Assuming all of you possess a valid passport, first thing you should do is to have an Indian Visa. One should go to India Visa Centre:

Oh, just before you go, please bring along 2 passport photo with you and RM168. once your application has been process, come the next day at 5pm to collect your passport.

Just before you leaving Malaysia, it will help you alot if you have a copy of your passport at least 3-4 copies and also an extra passport photo. This i will explain it later why you should need the passport copies. the page that you copy is your Information page, your India Visa Page and the page where you sign on your passport.

Getting a Indian Sim Card

It is important for you to get in touch with your family back at home and the easiest way is to have an Indian Mobile number. Theres a lot of Indian Telco to choose from. Idea, Airtel, Tata Docomo, Vodaphone, Aircel and others. Better for you to choose the one with, at least, GPRS subscription so that you can update your tweet or FB... hahhahaha..

To get a local mobile number, you must have a copy of your passport and also passport photo. It will very helpful and convenience if you came prepared.

If you have a shawls, or any kind of scarf, please bring a long. It might help you in so many situations especially from the heat.

Halal Food

There is plenty of Halal restaurant here in India and if you couldn't find one, you can always be a vegetarian

+ 'celebrity juling' syndrome

this is one of the many big issues a lot of my fellow friends faced nowadays. you prepared yourself for the job, you brought along the necessary gear, you wear your 'uniform' for your marketing & promotion, thinking you'll be the only one the guests will see strutting your stuff out ( especially if there are potential customers or brides-to-be among the guests ). but as soon as you stepped into the preparation room to say hi to the couple, BHAM!! another team ( i've also been to a wedding when there were even TWO! ) of photographers are already snapping away the couple enthusiastically. what should you do? act cool? or continue looking stunned at the door? hehehe..

for clients, they will say "you have to accept the challenge-lah" or some "i suka kalau ramai-ramai photographer ni, banyak angle!". some even say "sorry-lah ya, ada orang sponsor last minute!..." or " ni my best friend, dia suka-suka je nak belajar" so on and so forth. but whatever the reasons are, i am not against the idea of having more than 1 photographer from different companies but there are issues the pengantin have to take into consideration.

first of all, angle blocking. simply put, wedding photographers are angle freaks. in order to story-tell the event in the most creative manner, any good wedding photographer will go to great lengths to capture a moment in a different angle. sometimes the shot has been planned beforehand. i do know some photographers who uses their vast experience.. who have covered at the same venue over & over & over again, still check the floor plan, before everything starts. planning makes perfect, isn't it? they know when and where to shoot, to get that special shot for the client.

when the moment is up, the poor experienced photographer stationed himself at the spot he first planned. he waits, eagerly to snap. he's waiting for the right moment. suddenly, PAP!!! 2-3 photographers from the other team(s) covered the couple from the poor chap's lense, also scrambling to get an angle. and that's it. a precious moment is gone! a potential 'meletop-kinda-shot' has gone. repeat? i don't think so! :-). it works differently if you get a few photographers from the same team or company or brand. not only they're already used to work together, they would know when and where to stay off from each other's angle and also usually well equipped with walkie-talkies to communicate with each other. with different teams, i don't think we are allowed to yell to each other in a wedding. kekeke...

secondly, bored couple. i've been to a wedding whereby the unofficial photographer was always 'sticky' to the bride & groom. ke mana saja pengantin pergi mesti dia ada. all sorts of poses and actions dah disuruhnya pengantin tu buat. so when the time comes for the official photographer to shoot, they will give this look as if to say " hey, kitorang dah penat la pose! ". but hello!.. this is for the official photographer! we are the ones to prepare your album! and 'segala maknekaa' things that we've promised to give to the client at the end of the day. if we were not allowed or given this kinda look, how do you think the album will look like nanti? horror beb... hehehe

well, i know there are many other problems stemmed from this situation of banyak photographer, but i think i'll leave it to the clients to consider the ups & down of having more than 1 photographer ( or team of photographers ) from different teams on their big day ( from 1 team is OK :-) ). but this last problem is unfortunately very apparent in these events. i would love to call this ' celebrity juling' syndrome. ( tiada kaitan dengan mana-mana persendirian mahupun kumpulan yang bernama sindrom ). hehehe..

fortunate to capture a few celebrities' weddings, i always have this problem when it comes to group photo or just a simple portrait shot of the couple. why? it's because not just you who wants those shots, there will be many others next to you kelam kabut wanting that shot as well. i could remember when i was doing the shoot in Jakarta for Ashraf Sinclair and Bunga Citra Lestari, i had to have someone to stand next to me to signal Ashraf and BCL to look at me during the group photo session. next to me? berpuluh-puluh if not hundreds of other photographers. as the result, most of the shots, one will look at me and the other at someone else, and it's vice versa in a minute later. macam mata yang juling lah. sangat difficult to see at the same direction and in this case, at the same camera. and in many of my clients' weddings, this syndrome always occur during the cake cutting. hehe..

well, again, i'm not against having more than one photographer from different teams in an event, but please get the pros or the ones who has vast experience if you want to have more than one, because they should know how to avoid being in each other's frames or being a nuisance with one another. they'll know how to work seamlessly and not only you will save yourself from getting ruined pictures as the result from inter-framing of photographers, you could expect great photos from 2 pros, whom most likely will cover your event with different views from one another, without being in each other's frames! kekeke...

however, no matter what we as the photographer thinks, the call is still yours! hehehe. so decide wisely ya! :-P majulah photographer perkahwinan tempatan untuk negara! hehehe...

+ alhamdulillah, there are a lot of requests to tag along with me in these past few weeks, especially after the talk at PICC. really appreciate it guys! also, there are quarters who kept on asking about my next Wedding Peektugraphy 101 workshop, which i have conducted the first one in January this year. so guys, this is the answer all of you are waiting! LOL

i've managed to squeezed my schedule next month and as the result, i have 1 day available to do this workshop. Yeay! insya Allah it will be held in the middle of next month, and this time, it will be conducted at a hotel which i have yet to finalized. why this time at a hotel? perhaps one of the reasons is the introduction of the second part of this workshop, which is a portraiture session with models around the hotel compound. i will personally guide participants on how to shoot these models, which can be practiced on a real wedding day ( for PP, usually we invite pengantins to do a little outdoor portraiture after the event is over, depends on the weather and location ). so looking for a suitable hotel is not easy! heheheh..

oh, before i forgot to mention, for those who have asked permission to tag along with me, i would like to inform that only participants from Workshop I and II are allowed to tag along with me. why? well, one of the reasons: i would prefer the photographers who will tag along already have some idea on how we work. so nanti dalam wedding tu, takdelah kelam kabut or terlalu banyak bertanya until i cannot shoot my pengantin! kesian pengantin tu nanti! hahaha... so this is your chance! enrol in this workshop now!

and for my participants in the first workshop, interested to shoot our models after the class ( Part 1 ) is over? you are most welcomed to join our portraiture session ( 2nd part ) with a minimal fee of RM50 aje! :-)

first of all, on behalf of click couture, million thanks for those who came to Great Eastern Mall, Jalan Ampang last weekend. we had so much fun throughout the 2 days the event was held! + everybody knows ashraf sinclair & bunga cinta lestari will be tying the wedding knot next month. alhamdulillah. cute couple they make! and alhamdulillah too, pretty peektures insya allah will be covering this couple's big day in jakarta as well in KL. can't wait for that to happen! +

+ apart from that, pretty peektures & sinclair-falak are also planning something juicy for ashraf & bunga's fans both in malaysia & indonesia. looking at it, it's actually quite difficult to pull it off though, given the different scene, entertainment biz wise, in malaysia & indonesia. true enough, "rambut sama hitam, hati lain-lain" +

+ but, the best part, the couple shall create history as a celebrity from malaysia weds a celebrity from indonesia. Wedding of The Year for Malaysia & Indonesia best describes the couple's wedding affair ! :-) +

+ reminiscing how i knew ashraf and his wonderful family of umi, pak mat, aishah & adam, it all started back in 2005 when i did one of ashraf's cousins wedding. during bergambar-gambar dengan ida, the bride, aishah suddenly popped in and i snapped some nice candids of them. later i asked my client, ida, who she was ( well, just to confirm because i actually knew her from somewhere but i can't remember ) since she was so pretty and really stood out from the rest of the cousins. ida told me she is aishah sinclair and she is getting married soon. ahah!. it's a good opportunity for me to offer my photography service, i reckon!... and the rest is history +

+ in 2006 during aishah's akad nikah & 2 receptions, ashraf was one of the most hard working among the family members. he was there directing the traffic and in a split second he's at the other corner entertaining guests. blink and you'll find him at the other side of the room carrying stuffs or helping others and blink again, there he is! giving speech pulak! phew! dahsyat! now that it's ashraf's turn, it's quite a huge shoe for the other siblings to fill! +

+ i hope what we have planned for the wonderful couple, will eventually see light of the day. wish us luck! huhu!! +

phew! i think it has been more than 2 weeks since i last updated this blog. lots of things i would like to spill and share here but with this month's deadly schedule, it would remain a far fetched dream for now. kekeke...

alhamdulillah today i can breathe easy after 5 venues of akad nikah & receptions over the weekend. 3 weekends in august are down. 2 more to go! yeaaaahh!!! banzaaaaiiii....

08.08.08 was a busy date for any wedding photographer. alhamdulillah it's the same with pretty peektures :-). while my trusted photographers handle the klang valley events, me & shidy with azril, zeera & little azril flew to kota kinabalu for an akad nikah & reception here. shidy is my 2nd photographer / editor and zeera is my editor. so it's more like 3 in 1. assignment, jalan-jalan AND company trip! hahaha.. thank you to the wonderful pengantin, sue & yoni for their booking a YEAR ago. ( yeap.. last year.. )

hehehe.. and this is my 2nd assignment in KK this year. hope will get more next year! best juga bahhh!!! and also. to uncle amir of M|E|A|D photography who happens to reside in KK and uncle to effa, thanks for shooting with us!

Hallo! Azmin (PP) dah marah kenapa tak contribute dalam blog CC ni. Oleh kerana flight saya ke Sabah delay dari 12.20 tgh ke 2.00pm saya akan buat laporan terkini di LCCT.

LCCT ni dah jadi macam stesyen bas Pudu.. ramai sangat orang. tapi ada perubahan disekitar kawasan LCCT ni. dorang tengah buat terminal baru kat sebelah terminal yang ada sekarang ni.. kemudian kat sebelah pejabat pos besar tu, dorang bina Tune hotel.. tak lama lagi kawasan ni lagi lah sesak dgn orang. itu sahaja laporan terkini dari LCCT. saya iskandar ibrahim melaporkan diri untuk CCTV.. (click couture television.. bukan close-circuit television tau..)

5. Dapatkan khidmat rundingan daripada jurugambar profesional sepenuh masa, berpengalaman dan boleh dipercayai.

6. Hayati hasil kualiti dan kreativiti kerja jurugambar berkenaan sebelum memutuskan untuk memilih mereka.

7. Tempah seawal mungkin dengan mendahulukan wang deposit supaya dapat menggunakan jurugambar yang disukai.

8. Pilih konsep gambar dan album yang dikehendaki supaya jurugambar dapat memahami kehendak pelanggan.

Sudah masuk hari ke 3 saya di kota Paris baru hari ini berkesempatan untuk menulis sedikit di dalam blog ini.

Perjalanan saya ke Europe pada kali ini agak mudah kerana saya tidak merasa "jet-lag", tidak seperti tahun lepas di mana saa kerugian 2 hari pertama akibat dari pada itu. Dan kali ini juga saya lebih banyak berjalan, tidak seperti tahun lepas di mana saya lebih banyak menghabiskan masa di dalam bilik hotel.

Ini mungkin di sebabkan tahun lepas saya lebih stress menantikan upacara perkahwinan, tidak seperti pada tahun ini saya lebih banyak bersantai sambil bekerja.

Perjalanan saya masih jauh, dan esok saya akan ke Venice untuk kerja yang ke dua.

Semoga jumpa lagi..

Clickcouture meeting at Myphotographer Galerry

Meeting yang berlangsung selama hampir 3 jam bersama beberapa topik antaranya talk with Clickcouture Members.Antara yang datang adalah Saiful Nang dari Candid Syndrome,Azmin Prettypeektures,Iskandar Ibrahim dan Ahmad Fairus dari Myphotographer.Majlis yang sepatutnya dihadiri juga oleh Ikram Ismail & Fairuz(kiwi) dan mereka tidak dpt menghadirkan diri kerana beberapa masalah peribadi.

Clickcouture Members telah merancang untuk membuat talk yang akan di hadiri oleh hampir semua members.Sila lihat detail talk di bawah.

since the wedding fair last 2 weeks, it was straight down to work as many album designs & editing had to be stalled because of the preparation. pretty peektures cuma ada 3 full time staff dan ketiga-tiga orang ini sajalah ( termasuk yang tengah type ni ) yang working round the clock to prepare all the materials for the wedding fair at mid valley. anyway, thanks a bunch to our team of peektugraphers who came to midvalley and helped out. thanks guys! they had to run here in between wedding assignments just to help out! thanks! you guys rocks!

just came back from Ipoh yesterday and only last night, managed to sieve through all the photos that were taken from the fair. and tiba-tiba, terjumpalah these peeks, 3 orang t-shirt model wannabes. keh keh keh... boleh kot jadi model, tapi section antara dada & pinggang tu surely needs a lot of work!

from left is Yours Truly, Saiful Nang ( Candid Syndrome ) & Pojie ( Manggis ). unfortunately Hasnuddin ( Adan ) & Fairus ( Myphotographer ) were nowhere to be found, perhaps busy counting $$$ under their cash register machines ( ka-chingggg!!! ) ;-) .

I would like to say many thanks to Click Couture Admin for giving me the opportunity to say few words in our new Click Couture Blog.

Now its 2am in the morning i just came back from Shah Alam for a wedding. It was tiring but it is something I enjoy immensely.

Tomorrow is another long day for me and i have to go to sleep now...
